The world needs characters! So what am I doing wrong?
Whew! It's Miller time Rob! Err rather - whatever ale suits ya! (^_^)
Im T.T. until my daughters wedding 29th december and then Wow!!!!!!!for one night only Tee hee!
Oh, congratulations! She looks just wonderful and I bet it's a lovely feeling knowing she's all squared away for a bit!
Thanks to you both! she is a love of my life but I do need to go back to sail! I think she`s pretty too (although she`s old 1978 vintage) Tania. It is a great feeling to have her squared away Jamie, for a while, although it won`t be long I bet! I have to sort out why the engines are smoking (volvos always do of that age) I believe that it is because I have installed a preheat coil in the outgoing side of the Inter coolers and so the turbo flow may be restricted somewhat. I have rebuilt the stbd engine so I know its not the injectors fuel pump or pistons and cylinders? as both engines smoke the same, so it does rather point to the intercooler heaters. Ho hum! one day it will be sorted fully :o))Sas old soul arent I ?
"Sad" Sorry not sas :o))
Now I dunno nuthin' much save what I absorb by sheer osmosis but one of the engineers at the charter company whom Greig replaced always said to check impellers. Nine times out of then it was those. This summer, Greig was troubleshooting on one of the other charter boats which was smokin too and said, "Yup, Colin was right...g'damn impellers."That and changing the air filter. Apparently you can never have too many spare impellers on hand when you have a fleet of charter boats.
Thanks for that Tana The impellors are great and I have run the engines withot the air filters, as they are washable ones and that how I check that they are OK (if the smoke gets better when I take them off) but please keep your thoughts coming Ive got to beat it soon or be unpopular with the whole populace of the UK! If you sook to the south east at 17-00 tonight you will probably see me starting it up :o)) Take care Thanks again for your help
She looks lovely!
Thanks for that Maja! I was sorry (and laughing so much! yes I have a strange sense of humour , sorry)to read of your "happening " with the mattress. I did a similar think with sis sheets of 3/8 plasterboard! I was driving along quite hapily in my minivan , with them securely (or I thought so) strapped on to the roof rack with bungees! I heard a bang and just thought that it was the rack mooving and ajusting itself with the weight and then I heard another five bangs! I had no wing mirrors, and the inside of the van was full so I couldnt see out of the rear window, so I reached up out of the drivers window to check the load! what load it had all gone. I came uo to a roundabout and went back along the other side of the carriageway to check and see if everything was OK and t the point of the first impact, almost up to the roundabout the carriageway was covered in paper and plaster! the houses either side were covered in Gypsum dust and the walkways too! I stopped when I could and checked the rack to find that only one piece of 4x4 plasterboard was still there it was the rear half of the bottom sheet! whilst re attaching it properly? a motorbike courier pulled up shouting that he thought it was great (strange chap) saying things like cool do it again wow that was fun? I asked him if he saw what happend and he said yes the first sheet broke in two with the wind and the front half flew over his head, so he pulled out of my slip stream then the next five followed suit like a machine gun going off all pieces missed him and the following cars! Thanbk god and just before the roundabout the other five rear half pieces fell into the road and made the real mess shattering into dust! at that point (when I was about to start to clear it all up) it started to rain! what to do? I rang the councill and reported it too them as if I was a third party and left it at that they came out and cleaned it all up within a couple of hours boy was I lucky no one was hurt! on another occasion as a Kid riding my Vincent motorbike 1956 model. as an apprentice I was often asked to go to the yard and pick up a few things on the way to work (from Battersea to Hackney) right throught the centre of London. This day I had to pick up the wages and when I got there I was told that a couple of bags of cement were also needed as a matter of urgency! so once again with the dreadded bungies I layed them across the pillion seat like saddle bags and sprung the bungees diagonally across the middle! sure it was a little "different" to handle but with 1000cc it wasnt a problem. as I set off it started to drizzle and thinking off the paper cement bags I hurried along from Hackney down to liverpoo street station where there were road works opposite the bus stops the road work team had layed a railway sleeper into the road to ease the ramping of the works but it wasnt enough for me and as I hit it at 25 mph (yea right) the top bag split in two and dumped its content into the road just at the bus stop. I looked behing to see a dense cloud of cement dust slowly covering the whole queue of about 100 people. needless to say I didnt stop and having arrived at the site, when asked about only one bag? i said that that was all I was given! (Liar) once again I was lucky, (not so the poor bus queue) I still think about all those suits going to work that day and how they got it all off their clothes. I didnt pass that was again for a while as the sound of the old Vincent motorbike was fairly distinctive as was its design so they may have recognised me o((
OMG Rob!!! ROFLMAO!!!! Ouch, my sides hurt!
Hi OrbHope all is well with you. The boat looks all spangly and ready for the barnacles again ;)x
Hi Fuffy! big hugs, good to hear from you, Its starting to show some signs already! even with the chilly powder, terramysin and "gromoxone" mixture in it! I couldn`t get any strichnine this year as the chemist was getting very inquisitive as to what I wanted it for :o(( if I had said that it was to poison someone with he probably would have relented but for antifoul? maybe not!Tee Hee! cant swim near it for a few months now!!! (only joking really)not sure what the antifoull was as the label had fallen off! Ah, it might have been the tile paint that I do my garage floor with? Sjit!! Oh well, nothing grows on my garage floor anyway :o)) tee hee!
Hi EC! one has to laugh doesn`t one ? except if you were in the bus queue of course! tee hee!The next day I took my boss to the office for a meeting! he was a biker, so could ride pillion as I was only a learner at the time and we stopped at a cross road waiting for a gap in the traffic so when I pulled off a bit nippily to get across my boss summersaulted off the pillion and fell into the middle of the road I obviously went back to collect him. my days as a taxi bike driver were numbered from then on! :o))
